When you have a toddler and a pre-schooler, you must simply accept that cleaning the house will always be an asymptotic process.
Ada has just composed her first original work, at the grand age of 3.
It's called "Dude, Why You Bothering Me?". That pretty much comprises the entirety of the lyrics too. Repeated many times, at various volumes, with no real musicality or rhythm. Okay, it's no sonata. Still pretty adorable though, particularly since I have no idea where she could have heard the phrase.
In other news, can all those who have not yet done so please sms me with their names as the message, so I can continue to reassemble a phone book.
Ta muchly!
So if y'all could oblige me by sending an SMS with your name (and any other details I should have) attached, I'd be most appreciative.
Thanks!
I'm temporarily without a mobile after mine went for a swim in ginger beer (and with a story like that you just know that a 3 year old has to be involved, right?) although I've ordered a new one which should arrive in 5-10 working days.
Here's the good news, the new phone is an indestructi-phone! If it gets dirty, you just put in in the sink with your washing up, or even run it through the washing machine. It doesn't have a camera, and you can't access the web with it, but it does have an inbuilt "super bright" torch. It's not a ruggedized standard mobile, this was built from the core to be used by workmen (which, incidentally, also means the buttons are far enough apart to be able to be pressed while you're wearing work gloves). Reviewers say the call clarity is great, and have run cars over it, thrown it down stairs and (coincidentally) bathed it in Mountain Dew in their attempts to break it. However, it has a 3 year UNCONDITIONAL warranty; if you're able to break it, they'll replace it. I haven't been so excited about a new piece of tech in ages!
If you're interested, here're some of the reviews I read:

http://www.trustedreviews.com/mobile-ph
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/1
And all of that's really just a prelude to the request for people's phone numbers. Stupid, I know, but I never got around to connecting my phone to the computer to back up phone numbers. Or photos either, for that matter. Huge bummer. So can everyone who gets this please send me an e-mail with their current phone numbers? Maybe not just yet though, maybe wait a week. Actually, I'll send a post when the new phone arrives, and maybe y'all can just sms the numbers instead. My number won't change.
Two lovely moments in the last 24 hours, and the first was a Caitlin thing!
Every night when I take Caitlin off to bed to settle her, I say "Night Night" to Ada and David, blow them both a kiss, and then they do the same. (I know, sickeningly sweet, isn't it.) Last night, Caitlin waved at them, said "Na Na" and covered her mouth with her hand. This is the first time she's used a word in context (with the possible exception of "boob"). We're all so proud!
Then this morning, Ada's turn. There's a kid's show called Roary The Racing Car, which is a fave with Ada. The theme song goes:
Roary, the racing car
Roary, my number 1 star
Driving round at Silver Hatch
Come on Roary, 1 more lap!
Silver Hatch is the name of the race track. Okay, that's the background.
Ada was singing the song this morning, but changed the last line just a bit.
"Come on Roary, 1 more tummy!"
Here's another cute moment courtesy of Ada.
Driving home day before yesterday, the afternoon sun was shining into her face. She said "It's too bright, I can't see my eyes."
Just a quick post before bed time.
Heard earlier today in our house:
"Ah, David? Caitlin appears to have half a tuna fish sandwich in one hand and your blackberry in the other. You may wish to intervene."
For anyone who can use them. The movie is Ferris Bueller's Day Off. A workmate of mine bought them, and can't go, and they're non-transferable. They're "Gold Grass", so you get a bean bag and glass of wine on arrival. It'll help if you can pick them up too, but I could be persuaded to help out with delivery if it's not too inconvenient.
Call me on the mobile if you want 'em, first caller is the winner!
I can't believe such a costume exists, but, given that it does, I WANT ONE!
